When I opened the engine, I found it to be a good new / bad news day. The
rocker shaft  was badly scored as were the corresponding arms. All had to be
replaced with new pieces. The crank shaft was also quite scratched and was
beyond polishing. The cam shaft was fine, the head perfectly straight and the
valves and seats good. Cylinders were within tolerances and the pistons good
too.
